I upgraded to Mojave on 2016 Mac Book Air 500gb à couple of weeks ago.
A lot of Mac owners have reported that your Mac crashes at login, which prevents them from accessing their files. Spotify And Mac Mojave Crashing
Just ran Diskutility to try to remedy a permissions problem.
It freezes after locking the startup volume.
Waited for 10 minutes - and still frozen. Black screen with the pointer on is all I have.
So I have to force shutdown and restart.
Try again and the same thing happens. I know the mac should remain unresponsive on locking the startup volume but for 10 minutes? Twice.
I have now run diskutility on the container disk (one volume level above my HD) and runs ok. Also run diskutility on the APPLE SSD that contains the container disk. Also ok.
But when I try to run on my HD, it fails again. Seems to freeze or get stuck.
I get some progress but then the screen goes blank so I miss the action that if froze on.
Any ideas?

I understand that your Mac is in a restart cycle, and Spotify may be causing an issue. The following steps may be useful:

How to force an app to quit
- Press these three keys together: Option, Command, and Esc (Escape). This is similar to pressing Control-Alt-Delete on a PC. Or choose Force Quit from the Apple () menu in the upper-left corner of your screen.
- Select the app in the Force Quit window, then click Force Quit.
You may also need to delete the app and then reinstall it from the Spotify website where it was downloaded.
If you continue to have an issue after that, please try to start your computer into safe mode: Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac
